Quick Breakfast – Healthy Homemade Pancakes

These healthy homemade pancakes are a great way to get added fiber and nutrients into your daily diet. Perfect for grab and go breakfasts or snacks that the whole family will enjoy.

The Healthy Homemade Pancake Recipe

Base Ingredients

  • 2 bananas (mashed)
  • 4 Tbsp flax meal
  • 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat bran
  • scant teaspoon baking powder
  • scant teaspoon baking soda
  • dash of salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (adjust to desired thickness)
  • 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup or brown rice syrup or honey or 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar


  1. Smash bananas to release moisture. Mix base ingredients and let sit while you prepare the other ingredients. This will allows the flax meal to absorb the moisture from the bananas and thicken.
  2. In a large bowl, mix dry ingredients and set aside.
  3. In a smaller bowl mix wet ingredients.
  4. Taking your large mixing bowl of dry ingredients add the base mixture to it and mix well.
  5. Next, add the wet ingredients to your batter
  6. Adjust batter thickness by adding additional milk if needed.
  7. Use Ghee to grease/oil your cooking surface.
  8. Cook pancakes about 3 minutes on each side.
  9. Enjoy!

Storage and Final Thoughts

Storage of these healthy homemade pancakes is very easy. You can store them in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to a week. You could also freeze them to use as a quick breakfast or snack.
